I am an intuitive painter/printmaker exploring the ‘Emotional Landscape’ through gestural semi-abstract fictive place full of movement, weather air and space. The works offer a sense of perspective, invite reflection and utilise the restorative and hopeful aspects of nature. These places are for breathing, being and feeling rather than measuring and observing. Colour is of prime importance in creating the emotional tone. Capitalising on the chance mark, and working in layers of transparency to create texture and form, these unique intuitive works cross the bridge between painting and printmaking. The images celebrate the spiritual power of open space and the cyclical nature of life, while the concept of journey both physical and metaphorical is central to the work. I explore this link to nature as the panacea for and reflection of the human condition.
